We Make Chalcots Kit
We Make Chalcots Kit
The We Make Chalcots Kit was a community fund that celebrates the creativity, talent and knowledge of the Chalcots community. It gave money and additional support to Chalcots residents who had great ideas for their communities.
The aim of the fund was to increase the diversity of community leaders and people in positions of power by giving grants (money) of up to £2,000 to individual residents from Chalcots to deliver activities that build individual and/or community power. This could include running a series of cultural cooking clubs in the TRA hall with families, young people leading football tournaments for the community at Swiss Cottage pitches, community events that bring different groups from across Chalcots together such as BBQs, cinema screenings or respite trips to the seaside.
Decisions on who received funding and support were made by an independent community panel formed of 6 Chalcots residents who have diverse experiences of Camden and their local community.
The panel encouraged applications from those who are traditionally underrepresented in positions of power and leadership and who will face barriers to receiving funding elsewhere.
The fund was an opportunity for you as Chalcots residents to organise as a community for whatever revolution you want to see, turning bold ideas into change for your community!
